Injuries Sustained in Truck Injuries

Trucks, or tractor-trailers, are occupying our highways more and more. They are, however, very necessary, and without them, the face of interstate commerce would change entirely. Because of their sheer size and weight, however, truck accidents almost always result in very serious injuries or even death.

Truck accidents are caused by a number of factors. One common scenario of a truck accident is called an underride accident. An underride situation occurs when, for example, a passenger vehicle fails to see the lights on the side of the trailer and drives right underneath the trailer, and often the driver of passengers of the vehicle are decapitated.

Other injuries that have been suffered in truck accidents include:

  • Burns
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Broken bones
  • Loss of limbs
  • Death

Tractor-trailers often transport gas in their trailers, which can result in severe fires if involved in an accident, resulting in catastrophic burn injuries to all involved. Most often, however, injuries are suffered by the driver or passengers of the smaller vehicles involved in truck accidents.

If you or a loved one has been injured or killed in a truck accident, you should contact an experienced truck accident attorney in your area today.
